  TOWNSHIP OF LONDONDERRY CHESTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA RESOLUTION 05-2020 

A RESOLUTION OF THE LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS EXTENDING THE DECLARATION OF LOCAL STATE OF DISASTER EMERGENCY ISSUED MARCH 16, 2020 UNTIL FURTHER ACTION OF THE BOARD 

WHEREAS, effective as of March 6, 2020, there were presumed positive cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania which was set forth in a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency issued by the Governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Wolf; and 

WHEREAS, COVID-19 presents the possibility of spreading both nationwide and within Londonderry Township, Chester County, and, therefore, may endanger the health, safety and welfare of a substantial number of persons residing in Londonderry Township and likewise threatens to create substantial public health, medical, and emergency response burdens within Londonderry Township, Chester County; and 

WHEREAS, immediate proactive emergency management measures are required to mitigate and reduce the severity of this public health emergency for purposes of protecting the health, safety and welfare of residents in Londonderry Township, Chester County; and 

WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of §7501 of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Services Code, (35 Pa C.S. §7101 et seq.), Louis F. Simone, Chair of the Board of Supervisors, issued a Declaration of Local State of Disaster Emergency (“Declaration”) declaring the existence of a local disaster emergency in Londonderry Township, Chester County, on March 16, 2020; and 

WHEREAS, the effect of the Declaration was to activate the response and recovery aspects of any and all applicable local emergency management plans and to authorize the furnishing of aid and assistance thereunder; and 

WHEREAS, the Declaration directed the Emergency Management Coordinator of Londonderry Township to coordinate the activities of emergency response, to take all appropriate action needed to alleviate the effects of this medical emergency, to aid in the restoration of essential public services, and to take any other emergency response and recovery action deemed necessary to respond to this disaster emergency; and 

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Londonderry Township desires to extend the said Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency until further action of the Board. 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Londonderry Township hereby adopts this Resolution extending the Declaration of Local State of Disaster Emergency until further action of the Board.
