PennDOT Invites Pennsylvanians to Share Feedback on Construction, Maintenance Services

PennDOT’s online survey is open until October 21 for Pennsylvanians to submit feedback.

PennDOT has improved over 2,600 miles of road and worked to improve over 230 bridges throughout the Commonwealth this year.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is accepting construction and maintenance services feedback through an online survey. The public can take the survey through October 21 by visiting 2025 PennDOT Construction/Maintenance Customer Satisfaction Survey.

PennDOT has been hard at work improving Pennsylvania’s roads and bridges throughout the year, improving more than 2,600 miles of road, including over 900 miles of paving, and beginning work to repair, replace, or preserve more than 230 bridges from January through August of this year.

“The PennDOT team is serving Pennsylvanians every day, and each year we look for feedback on what we’re doing well and could improve,” PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said. “The survey also lets the public tell us how they receive roadway information and helps us find potential educational opportunities.”

The 22-question survey asks participants how they receive PennDOT roadway information and how often PennDOT meets or exceeds expectations in construction and maintenance activities. Respondents are also asked about experiences with reporting concerns to the department, and whether or how they use the state's 511PA traveler information services.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

Information about state infrastructure in Pennsylvania, including completed work and significant projects, is available online. Find PennDOT's planned and active construction projects at www.pa.gov/DOTprojects.

Bridge Replacement to Close Boot Road over Amtrak for One Year in East Caln Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge construction will close Boot Road for approximately one year in East Caln Township, Chester County, under a $13.3 million project to replace the structure that carries the Boot Road over Amtrak rail lines.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

  • Monday, September 8, through mid-September 2026, Boot      Road will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Quarry Road and Southwind      Lane.

During the closure, Boot Road motorists will be directed to use Quarry Road, Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway/Lancaster Avenue) and U.S. 322 (Brandywine Avenue).

Local access will be maintained at all times for residences and businesses.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area or along the detour route because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Amtrak (Keystone Line) and SEPTA (Paoli Thorndale Line) rail service are anticipated to continue without disruptions during construction.

Under this contract, PennDOT’s contractor will remove and replace the 59-year-old, 193-foot, three-span, Boot Road bridge with a 105-foot single-span structure. The bridge width will remain the same at 38 feet and improvements will take place on the approach roads to the bridge. Construction also includes roadway resurfacing, stormwater upgrades, and guiderail installation.

In addition, the roadway profile will be raised slightly to provide additional clearance to Amtrak’s facilities. The catenary system used to supply electricity to the railway system, which is currently attached to the bridge, will be reprofiled under the bridge.

To enhance traffic flow and safety, additional construction includes improvements will be performed at the adjacent Boot Road and Quarry Road Intersection. Work includes widening the roadway to incorporate left-turn lanes on three legs of the intersection, installing modernized traffic signals, and drainage improvements.

H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
