Refuse & Recycle

Now, more than ever, it is important to address the contamination of recyclables. Below is a reminder of some of the Do’s and Don’ts to properly recycle or throw away the following items:

  • NO caps or lids (from bottles and jars)
  • NO plastic bags (return to the grocery store)
  • NO Styrofoam, foam or polystyrene
  • NO Tyvek plastic envelopes
  • NEW YES ITEMS Clean milk, juice, broth, soup and other food and beverage cartons.

CONTAMINATION is the issue. If we all do our part to recycle properly, the cost of recycling will be reduced and the world market for recyclables will stabilize. Together we can make recycling work.

WHEN IN DOUBT – THROW IT OUT! See the article below for more information on items to be recycled.

Londonderry Township would like to promote recycling, therefore residents who have purchased a permit to utilize the Township Transfer Station to dispose of their household trash may also deposit recyclables in the trailer provided Other residents are encouraged to use the depository (at no cost) at the SECCRA landfill on route 926 adjacent to the Township, three single-stream bins located at the municipal building parking lot or contract with a trash hauler for curbside service.
